Good lord..another 10cm of snow?

Now that I'm finally done all of my round I of midterms, I have a little time to relax because the next sucker punch of round II begins. Although I did horrible, I am oh so glad that they are over and with. The last one being with Chem 573, which was brutal. I know why now that class needs a 40% average of final and midterm to achieve a C-.

Nothing new to report I suppose. School, life, work..all normal, so far.

Went clubbing on Friday....it has a been a long time since I did that. Clubbing in itself, was fun, with friends and all, but I would have to say the atmosphere at Tantra was damp and unhyped, something to tire of easily. And for this, I blame it all on the Whiskey. Damn you Whiskey, for not letting us in!!!

Plans for a trip to China with my family this summer are in the works. We're looking for tours right now that would take us almost everywhere, so for that, I'm looking forward to it..a bit =) I've heard many horror stories about good old Mainland China, so I have my reservations. I have heard though, that the scenery is amazing.

I have also bought a bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs. That's right folks. All 943g of it. It's heavy as hell, but it is such a gulity splurge. At Superstore, it's about a 12 dollar bag of chocolate, which I admit, is pretty hefty for a bag of chocolate. But no no--this isn't just a bag of chocolate...it's a bag of Mini Eggs. That is where the difference lies. *sigh* I think I'd better wake up earlier every morning and run a lap or two around the gym.

I also offically started my "training" as a dota noobie...thanks to Darren and Thanh. After watching Darren being fascinated with this game for so long, I decided to give it a whirl, to see what was so fun about it. And well..it was ok. Out of all the Warcraft games, I definately decided that this one was the most difficult. I suppose the funnest part was watching Thanh take control of my character and kick everyone's ass. And I guess the suckiest part was watching my own ass get whooped by other people =(. But nonetheless, I did learn some stuff, and maybe later on I'll play. Leave it to me, I think I'd take my World of Warcraft anyday, or even Tower Defense. But that's okay....learning new things is good!

I am in desperate need to download a new korean series. Does anyone have a good one out there?!?!

Speaking of which, I finally found a clip from MTV's TRL where Rain was presenting live. They do a mini interview of him, in which he spoke english. As much as I love his chiseled body, his smooth moves, and his giddy smile, his english was a disappointment for me. It actually made him sound VERY girly, and I would have to say that he should reconsider that english album until his english improves:

But hey, at least the guy can dance. But for now, I'd rather him croon in Korean anyday, since it makes him sound better. Mayhaps I'm expecting too much, yes?

And for those who don't have it, Eason Chan's newest CD "Life Continues" is goood!!

Tis all for now, over and out

=)

This past week has been the hardest and roughest of my life. But now I truly believe that things always turn out in the best possible way, and though as it might seem that whatever challenges you embark are so hard and difficult to face, it will always make you a stronger and better person.

This will be a short entry since I am using my sister's computer, so I have no access to my precious pictures, and I also have a lab to finish, which I am also procrastinating.

But I just wanted to let everyone know how WONDERFUL reading week really is, and how shitty reality is..........well...........school, I mean. Like really....a lab due, an assignment due, a midterm the Monday we come back, AND a lab to prepare for. Can't we at least have a day off!?

I can't believe it's half over =(

But in other news.......in regards to the Olympics.........GO CANADA GO!! *WOOT*WOOT*

Part time job, everyday, 8-1am, 25hrs/week, while going to school. Any takers?

So I suppose one of the semi-highlights of this past week was that I got an interview with the Calgary Catholic School Board as a laboratory assistant. I was super excited about this position: it was perfect learning opportunity to branch out and see what my degree can really do. It also gave me the chance to teach and apply with I had learned in school, instead of doing robotic movements and using the occasional C1V1=C2V2 equation at work.

So, they call me, 8:30 Friday morning:
"We would like to see you at 10:30"
Wha?? 10:30?! I'm at school! I look like crap!! I have to go home!! Get ready!
"Err...how about 11? 11:15?"
"Oh okay then, 11:15 sounds good"

So I rush home, get prettied up, and drive back to the interview place. I walk in, and there was a lady and a man there, which were nice. They told me about the position, its requirements, what the job responsibilities are, blah blah blah, and then, their first question:

"So, Karen, would you be able to work everyday from 8-1?"

Wha?? I seriously thought that my resume had the word of "5th year undergrad student" written on it so many times.

"This is actually a rigid 25hr/week job. We need sometime from 8-1. What time are your classes?"
"They are actually usually between 8-2..."
"How many classes?"
"Three, but 2 of them have a 3-hr lab component"

They refused any time negoiation at all: No coming in early at 7:00 or leaving later during the day. It had to be between 8-1, no exceptions. I couldn't believe it. Now, if my classes were all situatated nicely and lecture only, it wouldn't be a problem. But this is the sciences, where if typically you don't have a lab portion, you'd still have a tutorial. It would be really hard to handle a 20hr-workweek if the employer was not flexible.

Now, here came the greatest question in the world:
"Now, now Karen...what would you do...I mean..what would you do...if you had to come to work everyday from 8-1? Everyday?? What about your classes? What would you do?"

What would I do? What was he asking me to do? Drop classes? Forget about school for this crummy job? WTF? What kind of stupid question is that? Would he do that for this job as well??? I might have to slave away at earning this Chem degree, but I have put 4 yrs of work behind it.

"No, I'm sorry, but I can't. This is my school, my classes, I can't."

Welps, that ended the interview there. I was pissed, like P-I-S-S-E-D, because of what they were expecting of me, and how unrealistic its requirements were. I am, in fact, still really quite bitter, but after thinking about it for awhile, I think all that time constraints and expectations would make me not like the job in the long run. So in a way, I'm glad I said that I didn't want it. And today, the lady called me telling me that they didn't select me. Duh. I wouldn't select me either. Not even for an interview. Why they called me in at such short notice is beyond me, but I will never do that again.

As I quote Diana, "If you paid for me dropping the classes, taking them again, my time invested, my effort, and also a six-figure salary, I'll take the job"

Brilliant

Anyways, in great news....I finally got the new Korean Drama "My Girl" complete!! Finished!! With all subs and everything!!! Here's a couple of clips of it, the first one is the title song, and the second is just some MV:

Woooooooooooooooooooooeeee!! I can't wait till I start watching this! *beams*

Rain's newest drama, "A Love to Kill", has also been out for download for a very long time. I never got it though, cause it wasn't much of a comedy, but rather a more serious one. However, I was thinking of reconsidering cause now they have hard-subbed English subs on good quality versions...so I don't have to go hunting for subs!!! Should I download?!?! Oh my oh my!

Reading Week is surely approaching, which makes me a very happy girl. What am I going to do? Sleep, eat, and go shopping (hooray for shopping!). Oh, and watch Korean dramas hehehe =P

What's with the cold weather. I miss our +5 sunny days!

Whoa..you mean...Ralph Fiennes was dating a 61 year old granny?!?!?!?

No really, I'm not crazy, here's proof:
http://movies.msn.com/movies/article.aspx?news=214893 .

See..I'm not crazy. I read the article...twice. Sooo..you mean I had a chance?!?! Hahahahhaa jokes =P

Anyways, the "holes" from my wisdom teeth extraction are healing up. However, for the past few days everything I've eaten has gotten stuck in there, which is starting to be increasingly annoying. I've washed out:
  • Chicken
  • Roast beef
  • Carrots
  • Bean sprouts
  • Rice
  • Bread
  • A variety of chinese veggies
  • And much, much more...

This is really gross. Today I washed out this HUGE piece of carrot that was probably from yesterday's meal. How it was lodged in there and that I didn't know or feel it, is way beyond me. But it was so, so gross. I'm starting to wonder if I should revert back to my soup and congee days, since it's not really worth it spending so much time trying to clean it out when it takes me less time to eat food.

Anyways, enough for the yuckiness.

Anymore new and funky news?

  • I completely BOMBED my BChem midterm. No, I don't mean a dinky pass, and I haven't gotten my results back either, but I just know.
  • I almost got myself in a car accident with a bus today ( he was being an ass, seriously)
  • I missed the bus today from Brentwood (no good)
  • I'm feeling more exhausted than I did yesterday with my midterm. But that's nothing a cup of cooooffeeee couldn't fix
  • I found out my cousin in England is getting married...........HOORAY!
  • I'm the biggest idiot alive......I hand in my lab report....forgetting a page of it...the most important page. Doh!
  • While watching the Grammys today, I found out my dad knows exactly who Kanye West is without me referring to him. He said *points to the screen* "Hey..isn't he the guy who said "George Bush doesn't care about black people??"" Hahahaahhaha...PRICELESS!
  • I got the cutest belated bday gifts from Holly and Desmond, which included a car air freshener ( I needed one too!), a Doremon cell phone holder, and an array of H2O products (woooot)
  • Our family friend, Ken, bought a brand spankin' new CSX. OMG. I'm in love. I want one so bad now.

Doesn't just scream sexy? Mwhahaha =P

Okay, off to do my lab now. Toodles!

@ School...

It is now 8:25am....I'm sitting at the Info Commons in the library. I should really be working on my lab that is due Monday, since I have a huge ass BChem midterm on Tues. But why am I so unmotivated? If this was last semester. I would have the lab done, printed and stapled by now, and memorized everything that I needed to memorize for the midterm. Now I haven't even typed up the title page, and all I know in BChem is those stupid 20 Amino Acids. I need someone to hit me on the head and scream "YOU'RE SCREWED KAREN". Ai.

Hm. Speaking of the library, I was walking towards it today and I looked up and started looking at all the different levels. Stupid, I know, but then I realized I really only use 1 level out of all those many levels...and out of that....I really only use a 1/4 of it since that's the only section for Chemistry. Hm. Why am I funding for the use of this again..?

Hi-ho for Weingarten's Red Book, that's what I say.

Oh, and my credit card bill came in yesterday. $300 buckaroos....shit..I completely forgot that I paid for my class textbooks using my credit cards. Ah dammit. There goes my 400 Ralphbucks.

Anyways, on a more positive note, my horrid Chem 573 assignment is finally over and with. I met up with this girl Weds morning, in which we proceeded to try to figure out #8 for 2.5 hrs. 2.5 HRS!! My goodness. You know what I could be doing for 2.5 hrs? I could be sleeping, that's what.

On a even more positive note, Rain is offically on North American ground as of yesterday! His concerts at the Madison Square Garden were on last night and tonight as well. And, of those of you with all the satellite channels (lucky bastards you! =p), he'll also be on MTV's TRL today.....live! *giddy* I hope that someone is super nice and upload the episode for the rest of the non-MTV watchers to admire. Too bad he didn't come reading week. Me and Diana would be the first ones to buy concert tickets, book the plane tickets and the hotel rooms haha!

And here is his latest music video called "Sad Tango"...it's quite catchy! Really, I'm not biased or anything...it really is!

Well would you look at that..time for me to head off. Later!
