Hokey-Dokey!

Ooh boy. I have been a very bad girl. I used to be pretty spiffy on this thing and now it's been a couple of months. MONTHS!! How could I have let this slip?

Anyways, regardless, it's been a pretty boring couple of months. Filled with nothing but work work work and sleep sleep sleep. People say that they miss school after working for awhile and I can kind of see where they are getting at: the ability to skip as you please, procrastinate to wit's end, weekends and summer vacations off. I don't think I miss school as a whole, maybe cause I never particularly enjoyed it in the first place, but I do miss the atmosphere of it. Well, more specificially, the good old MacHall days with friends.

Butttttttttttt even then..making money is somewhat better =)

I'm currently taking Yoga lessons with Sorps right now, at this place called "The Yoga Studio" up in the NW. And well, it's very interesting. Yoga is by far, very different from pilates, and I enjoy it very much. Not so much the first class, but now we are doing much more challenging and weird poses, so it's been very good and relaxing. I'm hoping that mayhaps the next class we do is a yoga-pilates hybrid class...that would be sooo intense!

Speaking of which..Sorpie's ENGAGED!! I dance around singing that. I can't be more happy for my bestest pal in this huge milestone. Although her wedding is tentavely 2 yrs away, I'm a bridesmaid-in-training..and I'm soooooooo excited. It sounds like it's long time aways, but 2 yrs can fly by pretty fast. Woooo!

Went up to West Ed this long weekend and completely SPLURGED. No more spending for awhile. Bought the following:
  • Tee-shirt

  • Lululemon yoga pants (I really needed them, really, seriously)

  • Long sleeved shirt (with a hood!)

  • Pair of jeans

  • New bag

I won't even deliberate how much all this cost, although I do know that I will cringe and cry when my credit card bill comes in the mail.

A panoramic photo I took when I was walking through Prince's Island Park with Darren. Do you see him? The tiny him in bottom right hand corner!

What would you do?

What would you do if...

-You had twins, and at birth, discovered that one of them had Down Syndrome?
-You had a choice:
  • To send he/she away to an institution, never to be seen again, but could survive or..
  • To keep he/she, but have a life of pain and suffering (and possibily death) for the child and the family?

Gosh, I wouldn't even know.

Mini Ritz Sandwiches are da bomb!

Some unusual humor that I found through my extensive travels through the world of Wikipedia.. some famous epitaphs (writings on gravestones)!

My favorite, this one:

I lie somewhere over here
-Werner Heisenberg, as in Uncertainty Principle.

Don't get it? Click *here*. Hmm..mayhaps that explaination might be too confusing. Well the Heisenberg Uncertainly Principle pretty much means that it is impossible to accurately predict an electron's exact speed at a certain position in space. Either one or the other, but not both. Get the epitaph now?? Eh eh eh?!?! Well I thought it was hilarious (from a chem geek point of view..)

Another one:

3.14159265358979323846264338327950288...
-Ludolph van Ceulen, he was so proud of his achievement, computing π (pi)
to 35 digits, that he ordered it to be inscribed on his tombstone.

Ingenious I say!

Ok, I'm exhausted from a day of work, pilates and more overtime work. I gotta get me some sleep. Better update soon!

Hugs,
Karen

The Ashburn, by Excel Homes

These are just a couple of the pics that I took with my cell phone at the showhome me and Darren really like. I forgot to take pictures of the upper floor of the bedrooms, but those are pretty self explanatory. But we love the main floor anyways...

The first half of the living room

The second half of the living room

Bright, bright kitchen! (Me like)

$350,000 grand, 1300 sq.ft, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathrooms, and all the trimmings. *sigh*

On a snowy night at work......

So after watching this interview with Rain:

I realized how much Korean I forgot in such a short amount of time. A few months with no Korean influence bestowed upon me (ie: dramas, music, and other goodies) and I forget all that I've absorbed from before!! It's heartbreaking, really. But I think I'm pretty sure if I was to learn another language, I think Korean would be it. Well, I think the interviewer was so cool; I wish I can switch languages like that! Well, asian languages, I suppose =P

So it's gonna be a long night at work. Got a lot of stuff to run, since I keep on screwing up on stuff. Ah wells. OT it is! What to do when you're on call eh? I'm glad that I now got my brand new PHONEEE..so I can listen to mp3s now at work heh heh =P But seriously, pulling overtime really bites sometimes. Especially when you're just dying to go home cause you're really hungry and it's past dinner time...and you miss your bed. Boo hoo...

Ho hum, I found this on youtube the other day, and I thought it was most interesting:

Now, I'm really indifferent to Jin. I liked how he was all "representin" and everything during his time with Ruff Ryders and how he could do those rap battles and win them all. Hey, I thought he was pretty nifty! Buttt...I'm not fond of this...song. I feel that it's a bit cheesy, pretty cocky, and doesn't really speak for anything. And since when there was aminosity toward ABC/CBC Chinese? That was a bit of a shocker. Being CBC myself, I wasn't aware that there was a problem. But whatever. Hey, to each to his own, right?

Me and Darren went looking at starter homes a few weeks ago. We liked some, didn't like some, but all we got from it was one conclusion: it's all too damn expensive! I took a couple of pictures of the one showhomes that we liked...(I'll post them up when we get home, since after much time searching on this laptop, I realized it has no infrared port...bah!)...and that was a topper, at $350000. What a heartbreaker. How are we able to afford anything? The housing market in Calgary isn't going to be any better this year; in fact, it'll go up if it's anything. Oh dear....hopefully we'll be able to find something a bit more affordable, and isn't out to Airdrie, and that we like. *sigh*

Hungry, hungry...

Ah..off to load another test soon..must get ready. Toodles!

Whoa!

Has it really been that long since my last update? Holy smokes, I'm a lazy one!

Anyways, nothing new NEW to report I guess. I suppose this is the life of a graduate: work work work. Well, I guess stemming from work, there are new things to report.

  1. Work has been really good!!! I love my coworker, Andrea, and my boss, Peter. Although sometimes things get really stressed, and don't work out, the environment is totally different from my days at AGAT, where disrespect, yelling, and accusations are a very common occurance. Here, they really apprechiate the work you put in (although sometimes it seems like you didn't really do anything), and the main difference is that they really put the effort and dedication in to do things right, no matter how long it takes. Very, very refreshing. And it makes me feel good that I have a job that I really care about and want to do well in.
  2. I've been starting to do Pilates over at the UofC on Tuesdays with Sorp. It's been FUN. Well, lets just say that it really isn't as easy as it looks. Just this week, they did a whole ton of ab work that left me sore and aching to stop. My tummy can only take so much!
  3. Andddd...I passed my class!! *WOOT* I applied for graduation a few weeks ago, so I'm just waiting for its reply now...which will probably take awhile.
  4. After waiting for a month, my phone is FINALLY in!!! Hooray! We're going to pick it up on Friday, after work. I can't wait!
  5. My birthday was an awesome one. A bunch of us went out for dinner, bowling, and some games at my house after (I need those pictures if possible Audrey...). Lets say that UNO Extreme takes wayyyy too long with 10+ people, and with 4 people, it's really fun (we tried!)
  6. Me, Darren, Holly and Desmond went up to Edmonton last week to visit Janet and Kelvin. We didn't really do much, but it was such a great time. We all watched the hockey game, and played Pictionary and Cranium, which was the highlight of the night. It's hilarrrrrriiiooussss!
  7. I cleaned my room!! Like super-clean. Top to bottom, and even chucked 4 garbage bags full of clothes from my closet. It's clean now....you can see the floor, and even walk in it!!! Impressive eh? I know. Even Diana and Darren were amazed at my cleaning abilities. And what else is impressive? So far, it's kept clean too! I suppose when you're done school, you have time to tidy up.

I think that's it. I'll report more when there is more to report...?

And oh yes........a sppeecccciiiaaallll happy birthday to Johnson and Audrey! *woot* We better be celebrating when Audrey comes back!

So I had the most interesting morning yesterday at work. My shift started from 10-7, and just as I was leaving for work, Mr. Boss calls me from Grande Prairie, where he was for a business trip. He tells me that 1) my coworker didn't come in today, since she was sick and 2) he needed me UPS him some parts for our machine. Well hot damn, I didn't know what these parts looked like. So I hauled ass down to work, and spent 10 mins on the phone with him figuring out which part was what. After I got that figured out, I sped down to UPS, only to find out that the package wouldn't get there till Friday night, which was stupid and pointless since my boss was leaving Fri afternoon for Calgary. Panicked, I called my boss and told him what was going on, and he told me to go down to Grayhound. Grayhound is like where...downtown Calgary? I'm way up North. So I hauled ass back to the lab, spent 20 mins on the phone with FedEx, Grayhound, DHL, and Purolator pleading for a package to arrive in GP by tomorrow. Purolator promised me 1 day arrival, so I drove down to Purolator, only to find out when I get there that they changed their minds and it was 2 day now. After calling my boss (again) and hemming and hawing, he said to send it off anyways, so I lined up (again) and paid for the shipment. And then the lady was like "Oh! It's a day now!!".....I was really like, "I don't care lady..even today would be great".

So that whole escapade took me 2 hrs in the morning of calling, driving, and insane working against the clock. Whoever said that they thrive on stress must be insane.

So that was fun times..heh =P
