My ear! My ear!!!! >.<

So, since the last update (Mon) till now, there are many things to chit-chat about. Let me number them off:
  1. Audrey spoiled me and bought the last 3 Winnie-the-Pooh figures that I was missing
  2. Audrey also got me my first ever (and legit copy!) of Rain's newest CD
  3. I got an ear infection, which really, REALLY hurts.
  4. I think i'm in a lot of shit at work..really long story
  5. I'm going to attempt my first ever belly dancing class next semester with my friend Diana. Well, that's after I pay for it anyways. I have have 17 hrs to chicken out hahaha! Go me!
  6. I lost my precious pencil case, in which by sheer, sheer luck, Grace found it for me. (Go Grace!)
  7. I did a-ok on my Chem midterm (Go me! #2), which I am happy about
  8. My Sang-Doo Korean drama is not downloading. I.AM.NOT.HAPPY.ABOUT.THIS.
  9. And lastly, 2 more weeks till finals. Is this a "woo hoo!" or "oh shit!!"??

Wow. What a half a week. But the hugest, biggest, greatest thing: Audrey got me my Winnie the Pooh turtle. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! That has definately made my Monday. And...some sexy ass pictures of it:

Winnie Turtle and Winnie Hippo:

Winnie Cow, every time I see this, I think of what Audrey said, "Hey..the cow has nipples":

And lastly, the whole group:

...yay!

And now, for the real eye candy:

And...and!! It came with not only one....but FIVE pictures....good ones too!:

*sigh*..i'm in heaven!

Work is pretty standard. Some not so good situations happened, which I don't really want to elaborate on cause it'll just make me mad, and it's not worth the time right now. I'm hoping for a new opportunity to come up next year....or mayhaps I might have to rough it up here.

But besides that...my ear is killing me!!! I went to the doctor's today, in which she proclaimed "ugh...that's a nasty ear infection you got there", so that didn't make me feel good. I got my antibiotics for it and all, but it does hurt. I couldn't believe how much it hurts!! I shall never underestimate the power of an ear infection ever again!

Anyways..I think I'll end this update. Pretty picture intense update eh? I think I'll end it off with one more really nice picture:

Taken @ Nov 10/05, at sunrise, outside my bedroom window. =)

True story..no, really....

Interesting convo at work, I feel the need to share to all, between me and a fellow Asian lady, Joanne:

Joanne: "So Karen, are you Chinese?"

Me: "Yuppers!"

Joanne: "So were you born here then?"

Me: "Oh yeah..can you not tell haha!"

Joanne: "So what do you speak at home?"

Me: "Chinese. But I'm not very good at it though"

Joanne: "Didn't you go to chinese school?"

Me: "Nah..never went"

Joanne: (confused look on her face) : "So then how do you know how to speak Chinese..??"

*moment of silence*

Me: "Uh...my parents speak it......so I have to.....or else they don't know what I'm talking about....?"

Joanne: "Oh................" (looks away)

True conversation, ladies and gentlemen. Goes to show even though you are born here, no matter how true in your heart you are to your Asian roots, you will always be white-washed to the good ol' China ladies har har har!

Anyways, it's not offensive or anything...but it's hilarious how it didn't click for her faster than what I thought (or maybe what I thought should take......?)

Anyways, back to lab, TONS to update later when I have time =)

Ignorance is Not that Blissful

So today was a somewhat productive day. Went to class, which I didn't get my midterm back (YES!), hung out with Audrey during break, and went home. So it was a good Friday. At least it's good cause nothing bad happened =P

Went to future shop to get Darren's gift exchanged. This GB came in silver instead of the black in mail, which is okay, I suppose...people do make mistakes and all. But the lady at the till was uber convinced (for some stupid reason) that the black faceplace was wedged behind the GB itself. After telling her "no" repeatedly, I got really annoyed and said, "Your website has two different colors. One black and one silver. You can check it out if you want. And here is the reciept...see here??? BLACK." She believed me then. So after dodging a couple of desperate salespeople ("please buy the extended warrantyyyy..please please please"), including one salesperson that made his speech from reading a piece of paper ("uh...if you buy the extended warranty..then uh...*flip*..you get 3 years warranty...which uh...*flip*flip*flip*..covers everything like if your screen goes out and uh..*flip*flip*flip*...for 20 bucks...*flip*flip*flip*") I finally was able to leave in one piece. However, for those brave souls who are going to venture to Future Shop for Xmas shopping, you should check out that toy electronic dog and dino they have going on. They had it on display, and for 200 bucks, it's a piece of junk, but it looks pretty damn cool!

After that, went to drop off a prescription, and walked around the mall for awhile. How I spent 40 bucks in a couple of hrs is unknown to me. I bought Xmas cards from Carlton (yoooo...they are 50% off!!!), bought an Iced Vanilla Bean Latte (oh, it was heaven), bought some chocolate for some pals in my classes for Xmas, and a HUGE Toblerone bar Darren..I had emptied my pockets. Wow. I spend more than I earn in 2 hours!

I hit the bank after, in which here is the real piss off for the day happened. I was standing in line for the ATM, in which the lady on the left ATM was taking forever. Okay, fine whatever. But the real kicker was that when she was done, the machine spit out that piece of paper, you know, one of those account balance sheets, and she stood there, looking at it. I'm like..wtf. You don't block a whole machine for yourself just to look at that stupid piece of paper. I mean, you look at it, but she was analyzing, like she was calculating her deposits and withdrawls in her head in order to see if the ATM was right. After a couple of minutes, I got flaming mad.

"Excuse me, are you done with that machine?"

"Uh..."

The took her purse and her wallet and proceeded to give me the dirtest look ever. I shot back with one of my cold look. I cut in front of her and took her machine.

I can't believe people are that ignorant. If you are done, then promptly leave the ATM, so the next person in line can use it. It's one thing to be slow and tedious, but it's simply another if you are done and you are standing there, blocking everyone who are might be in a rush, and need cash. It's understandable to look at your account balance, but I'm sure you can analyze it away from the machine. You don't need to hog a ATM all to yourself. I mean, I'm not in a rush, but what if someone was?

And the fact that she shot me with a dirty look was hilarious. What gives you the right to think that that machine was all yours? You were obviously done. Get the hell out. I'm not one to sit there and wait for someone who takes their time. It's my flaw, that I am very impatient, and that my temper flares for people who are ignorant and thinks the world revolves around them.

Anyways, to the Ignorant-Lady-At-The-TDBank-ATM: Screw you. One day karma will catch up to you and you will be screwed over by someone who takes their time ahead of you.

A tired me..

Yups. 1 tired Karen is the product of:

(1 project lab report and 1 lab write up)due on the same day + 2 hours of sleep.

How I woke up this morning and stayed awake in class is amazing to me.

So I'm pretty stressed. Lots to do in school from now till the end of the month-beginning week of December. 2 Cpsc assignments. 2 quizzes in Enviro. 2 major lab reports in Inorganic. My term project is due at the end of the month for Enviro. There is more I think, but I can't remember them right now. So I'm currently in a mini-state of panic, and sprouting white hairs.

Today I went for my consultation appointment for wisdom teeth removal. As he was explaining how they were gonna do it, the surgery and all, I felt more white hairs sprouting. Not a good sign, I think.

So after my appointment, I went a little pre-Xmas shopping to see what's out there this year. And let me tells ya, Christmas is the best time of year. Everything is so warm and bubbly, and so festive. Yes, the malls are just horrible, but when I see all those lights and decorations, I can't help but feel a little tingly inside. Yessiree, that Grinch heart does grow a little bigger =)

I'm probably gonna make a list, and brave the malls in the beginning of December after all that school hellwork is done and over with. And honestly..I can't really wait..it's a tad exciting...I'm so nuts!

On more good news: Darren got his contract at Maxxam extended for another 2 weeks!!!!!!! Yay!! I'm uber happy for him! Might not seem long, but something is better than nothing.

More good news: Thank you thank you thank you thank you Audrey for lending me the Japanese movie: "Waterboys". It's soooooooooooo HILARIOUS! Click
*here* for the review.

Soon-to-be-good-news: I'm currently downloading another Korean series called "Sang-Doo, Let's Go to School!". It's a couple years old, and the name is extremely corny, but the first chapter was completely funny! It also has Rain in it, which isn't a bad deal. Take a look at a scene from the movie, it's dubbed into Chinese:

You can also view the site
*here*. I really can't wait until it's done....it's going to be really funny!

Anyways, over and out for me, back to schoolwork I go....*puke*

Eh?

We are living in the age of "the Age of Stupid Studies" that they do to people. Is this what we are funding for our future?

Anyways, what I'm talking about is this study *here*. I mean...is this really needed? If it is, well then, I can single handedly write a thesis on this subject!! I am a living experiment! Duh, of course sweets lower anxiety. They also lower stress. Hence the term "comfort food" and "chocolate". I'm pretty sure much of the female population can understand what I mean.

I really do think they should do a study of "all the stupid studies out there". It would be hilarious.

An actual conversation between Mr. Bus-Driver-At-Brentwood and me:

Me (getting on the bus): Hi, I am wondering when this bus is leaving
Mr. Bus Driver: (giving me the once-over, rudest look) whyyy?
Me: ...uhhh......cause I am wondering...??????

Oooooohhhhhh...so I get it now. Why does Calgary keep on increasing its residental taxation to the double digits? Cause we don't get enough from tourism since city workers are so damn ignorant and rude.

Be it, I wouldn't come here either if people had that kind of attitude.

Then again, I don't think I would buy a house if it would cost me more just to pay for its damn taxes than it is to buy the house itself.

Bah! I hate government!

On the good news: Christmas is just around the corner! Yay!

Ook, enough with the rant. I think I shall go back to my beloved "Boron Compounds" write up. Oh what a fun Friday afternoon I have!

Mission: Complete

I finally finished downloading the Korean drama series "Full House" last night. I stayed up till 2:30 in the morning just to finish, while watching bits and pieces of the good parts. Even though last night and this morning I was exhausted, tired, grouchy, hungry, and had to wake up by 7:00 the next day.....it was so well worth it! The story is so simple and it's such a great romance series it would make any chickie swoon. I suppose Rain, the lead male, was such a jerk in the beginning. I mean, if he was nicer and came to his senses the series would have lasted 8 or 9 chapters instead of the 16 haha! But nevertheless, it was a beautiful story, with the perfect ending. I wouldn't want it any other way! I'll try to get done my lab today so I can run home and watch it, from the beginning to end. I can't wait!

In the news today, I read that the Alberta government passed a new law concerning accidents. From now on, if the accident involves a pregnant women, and the fetus is hurt and damaged, the child can later on sue the mother for damages. I find this incredibly distrubing. Click
*here* for the story.

I think this is a story horribly gone wrong. An "accident", defined by dictionary.com is one that "An unexpected and undesirable event, especially one resulting in damage or harm:". Since when did mothers purposely and forcibly decide to harm their unborn child? No one wants to be in an accident, pregnant moms or not. Somethings you cannot control, and therefore happen. There are some mothers out there that do have children which are born with physical problems, but that does not deter those mothers from loving their child, and giving them everything they can, under the circumstances. And now children are allowed to sue their mothers because of this?

I always upheld the law as something that protects the innocent from the guilty, and those who are punished are the ones that morally did something wrong, with motive. From my point of view, pregnant moms perhaps did do something wrong (like get into an accident)..but is with a motive? No, of course not. Therefore, I don't think they deserve this harsh punishment, especially from your own children.

I honestly think the government is wasting their time with this pathetic law. I can't believe that something like this is passed. It really makes me question society, and makes me question how children are supposed to be taught obedience, love and respect to parents under these kind of conditions. It even makes me wonder if in the near future if I want to have children, since it seems that if I am not the perfect parent, I can be sued any other circumstance by my own children that I bear and raised and loved my whole life.

Well in my opinion...this is just pointless pointless. Is this what Alberta politicians do when they have a billion dollar surplus? Sit on their asses and figure out dumb laws? My goodness..!

Anyways, enough of the rant. I'm off to do my Chem lab!
