Save a tree! Eat a beaver!

So, this last weekend I took in all the guts I had in me and did the one thing that I should have done months ago.

I got a haircut.

Now, I went to Cabello. It's a pretty pricey place, but they do a good job. And they give these A-M-A-Z-I-N-G head/neck massages when they wash your hair. They are to die for.

All I asked was them to thin my hair out, cut it to shoulder length, layers in around my face, and a layer in the back.

The result?

A mullet.

I don't know what I did in my past life, but for sure, I must have wronged some sort of mullet man. I go to a cheap place, I get a mullet. I go to a pricey place, I get another mullet. There should be a label on my forehead that reads "Mullet Lady".

I think the hairstylist heard me say "layers in the back" instead of "A layer in the back" because after it was done, it was like, most of my hair was concentrated on my head, and nothing was really left long, except for a few wisps, because all of it was thinned out. I thought it was ok, but when I came out, went home, took a shower, I saw the extent of the damage. He had layered ALL of my hair in the back, in MANY layers. No wonder it looked so funny. It was all pointing outwards because it was wet. Now I have to blow dry every single friggin strand and layer inwards, which cuts into my morning wakeup/shower time. I have absolutly no patience for this either.

Welps, that sucked.

I offically finished my last undergraduate chemistry lab of my LIFE!!! I am a happy girl. No more shitty ass labs to worry about...it's all done! Now all I have to do is check out and write up the report...weeee!

Which reminds me, my Chem 573 prof went over this quote with us from some scientist dude that I think we can all relate to:
"Thermodynamics is a funny topic. The first time you learn it, you have no idea what it is trying to say. The second time you go though it, you think you understand what it is saying, except for one or two topics. The third time you go through it, you know that you don't know it, but now you don't really care anymore."

Wiser words have never been spoken. Especially on the topic of thermodynamics. Which is probably the like....4th time this friggin topic has come up in my life as a chem student, and I still have NO idea what the hell it's talking about (very so often).

Oh yes, and I have decided that I'm screwed no matter what for my BioChem midterm next week. There is no way I can memorize 6 metabolic pathways, in which each pathways have 10+ products/reactants, not including enzymes, substrates, inhibitors, and all that other crap I don't know the definition of, and other little goodies along the way. So if next week I'm not updating my blog, that's just cause i'm sulking and crying over my horrible midterm in the corner of my room, haha!

Oh, and it was Simon's Birthday yesterday. The little puffball turned 11 yrs old!

That little studmuffin..doesn't look a day over 5 years old!!!

OMG...who heard of the basketball player Allan Ray who got his eyeball poked out during the game?!?!? That sucks man...seriously. You can find it on youtube.com if you search for Allan Ray...I don't really want to put it up here cause it's a bit graphic. Like seriously...a eyeball... *shudders*

Anyways, I found this clip on YouTube of the traffic in Shanghai:

Can you believe it?! My goodness, I can't stand the traffic here and look at the amount of people over there? Ai, I'm going to stick out like a sore thumb, just screaming the word "tourist". I hope it's not THAT bad, but chances are, I'm lying to myself.

Me, Grace and Diana want to go to South Korea in a couple of years when Grace goes back to visit her family. We're all actually kinda looking forward to it, cause we think it's gonna be pretty fun and as a bonus, we get our own personal tour guide (Grace) hahahaha! I'm trying to see if Diana wants to go for a week in Japan too, since that would be last Asian country I would love to visit, but we'll see. It'll be an expensive trip, but sooo worth it! Grace also said she would try to take us to Jeju Island, which is an island off the coast of Korea. It was featured on the drama "My Girl", and "My Lovely Samsoon", and even Grace herself said it was beautiful there. I wanna goooooooooooo!

A video of Jeju Island:

And, if you remember the scene in "My Lovely Samsoon" where Samsoon was yelling over a mountain in Jeju Island, this is where the infamous scene took place:

Oohhh...I wanna go to Korea!!!

  • I remember getting my haircut at Cabello before too!! I agree - they do wicked head massages, so it felt like you were getting a therapeutic experience rather than an everyday haircut. But I did hear that Cabello was a place where fobs go to do their hair, so mine looked funny after getting it cut the first time, but I did get it fixed. But at least the hairdresser fixed my hairline so it doesn't split right in the middle now!! *yay*

Anywho, just thought I'd comment on how cute your doggy is! Take care Karen - I hope all goes well with your Chem classes!

  • Hey Karen, I love Cabello's head massage thing too. A mullet?! I'm sure once you wash your hair (and wash out all that salon stuff they put in it), it'll look very nice again.

Btw, my wedding is on June 24th. Will you also be around early June? That's probably when I'll have my bridal shower/bachelorette party...It's gonna be a riot!

  • Hey Karen!

You know, for some strange reason, I can never get my images to work on Blogger. I have no idea why. Maybe it's my bad luck and lack of computer skills =P. Oh well, it's not important anyways, but thank-you for letting me know that it is possible...erm, just not for me tho, haha.

Man, you got a mullet?? I can't imagine you with a mullet. I hope it's not as bad as you say! I stopped going to Chinese hairstylists a LONG time ago. They NEVER listen to me! I say "Cut off 4 inches" and they cut off 8!! Now, I go to Chatters at Market Mall. There's this young Cambodian girl there named Rathie and she's so awesome. Usually, if you go in with a pic of the hairstyle you want, you will end up with the results that you want. Or at least just be very descriptive about what you want. Rathie really listens and does exactly as you say, unlike those cocky Chinatown hairstylists who think that they know what you want more than you do. They're always like "Well, I see what you're saying, but I have a vision for you blah, blah, blah..." I used to always leave those salons feeling pissed and ripped off. They need to learn to listen to customers!

But then again, hair grows! And remember, there's always hairgel, glue, sprays, etc!

  • Hey Kare, when I saw you at the U the other day, did you already have your hair cut? I didn't notice it looking different..looked ok to me. I actually stopped going to any of the chinatown places to get my hair cut (my aunt's place included), I find that the style is too fobby and my hair always get thinned out too much. It ends up drying out my hair. I'm liking this new place I go to near Chinook called Statik. It's actually Amy's friend and she's supernice and really good with CBC hair.

I'd love to go to Korea too man..looks beautiful. You must be really excited about China. So lucky man! The only thing motivating me to work hard is my trip to Viet Nam at the end of the year. Can't wait, can't wait.
